Best Practice Milk Harvesting with Ian Ohnstad

A webinar addressing milk quality and milk harvesting exploring the application of milking routines, milking parlour optimisation and equipment cleaning. Areas to be covered will include the importance of the milking routine, milk ejection and stimulation. Milking machine settings to optimise milking performance and teat and udder health will also be covered. We'll finish with an overview of cost-effective cleaning regimes to improve milk quality.

About the speaker

Ian Ohnstad has worked as a milking technology specialist for 33 years, first with ADAS and for the past 20 as a Director of The Dairy Group, where he leads the milking technology team providing independent advice on parlour specification and operation, hygienic milk production, mastitis control and dairy building design. Alongside his UK consultancy he works in New Zealand, Australia, the USA, Japan, China, the Middle East, East Africa and mainland Europe. He chairs the British Mastitis Conference, has served three terms on the NMC Board, and sits on the International Dairy Federation working group for the current ISO machine milking revision. He was recently made a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society for his contribution to the UK dairy industry and was Farmers Weekly Livestock Adviser of the Year in 2021.
